Resident Civil

As a fan of Primus, I often wondered what inspired key member Les Claypool to create such quirky but unique music. It was not until I discovered The Residents, an avant-garde band that are known for their experimental music, abstract visuals and extreme anonymity. Nobody knows their true identity but they are often seen wearing this ridiculous eye helmet, top hat and suit, which has been their trademark ever since.

The Residents had the most profound impact not just on Les Claypool but Matt Groening (The Simpsons), Penn Jillette (Penn & Teller), and many others. Just watch their music video "Constantinople" and you'll see what I mean.
